Zouzouli Bridge

At Kazania, near Zouzouli, stands the Zouzouli Bridge, built in 1880 to connect Zouzouli, Fourka, and Samarina with Pentalofos. It served as a key passage for merchants, travelers, and Vlach populations wandering from Epirus to Western Macedonia. Local tradition has two takes on the story of its construction: one of them states that it was funded by a local muleteer in memory of his brother who drowned in the stream; according to the other one, a local nobleman commissioned it after being moved by the drowning of a young girl. The bridge was built by craftsmen from the master-builder villages of Konitsa, who were renowned for their artistry. Measuring 25 meters in length, 8 meters in height, and with a 15-meter arch span, this single-arched bridge remained for decades a vital link between Zouzouli, Grevena, and Tsotili, as well as a key crossing from Macedonia to Epirus. Today, although used mainly by a few shepherds during the summer, it remains in good shape.
