Skete of Saint Nikanor
From the southeastern side of the Monastery of Saint Nikanor of Zavorda begins the path that leads you lower down to the Saint’s skete — nestled in a recess of a vertical rock above the Aliakmonas River. The two-storey building’s lower part serves as the entrance area, the staircase of which leads to the upper section, where there is a small vaulted church dedicated to Saint George and a later structure of 1793. The frescoes preserved inside the skete date to the first and second half of the 15th century.
