Panhellenic Road Race “Lignite Memories”

Since 2009, the nationwide road race “Lignite Memories,” organized every fall by the Spartakos Association and Greece’s Public Power Corporation in honor of lignite miners, has grown into a widely recognized athletic institution. The race, which also includes participants with disabilities, features two events: a 21-kilometer half marathon and a 5-kilometer race for men and women. The finish line and the award ceremony take place at the “Lignite Memories” Park, an important landmark in Ptolemaida.
