Ottoman Monuments of Florina
Florina still bears traces of the Ottoman period, adding a multicultural layer to its past. The “koulés”, a defensive tower of an old mansion, dominates north of Eleftherias Avenue, while the base of the minaret of the Çarşı Camii stands tall nearby, at the corner of Papakonstantinou Nereti and Kresnas streets. The latter is the sole remaining mosque out of the seven that once existed in the city. Near the banks of the Sakoulevas River, you can also see the hammam of Dikaiosynis Square, the only one of the city’s two baths to survive the test of time, which remained in operation until 1958.
