Holy Monastery of Saint Panteleimon
In a magnificent and imposing setting on Mount Mouriki, 7 kilometers from Vlasti, the Holy Monastery of Saint Panteleimon stands as one of the oldest monasteries in Macedonia, still home to an active monastic community. It was founded around 1500 AD, while its current form dates to 2005. It is especially worth visiting on the feast day of Saint Panteleimon, when a major trade fair takes place and brings unique local customs to life. Each year, horse riders from Vlasti and neighboring villages ride up to the monastery to participate in the Divine Liturgy. Afterwards, they return through the mountain paths of Mouriki in a festive march, welcomed in the village square with music, celebrations, and horseback rides through Vlasti’s cobbled streets — an authentic celebration of faith and local tradition.
