Fanoi
An experience you must live. On the Sunday of the Great Carnival, Velventos transforms into a dreamlike setting filled with flames, songs and colors, honoring one of the most characteristic customs of Western Macedonia: the Fanoi. The Fanos of Velventos is lit in the central square as the peak of the carnival festivities. Residents and visitors alike gather around the great bonfire, singing traditional carnival songs, dancing and celebrating in a grand folk festivity. The traditional custom is accompanied by a parade of floats and masqueraders.
