Egg Battles
The Egg Battles is a joyful Easter custom of Pontic origins that you will mainly experience in villages of Kozani, such as Agios Dimitrios, Agios Charalambos, Akrini, Kapnochori, and Kleitos. They take place on Easter Sunday or Easter Monday and transform the villages into festive settings full of enthusiasm. Participants carefully choose their hardest boiled eggs and enter the… battle! The goal is simple: to crack your opponent’s egg without cracking your own. Beyond the joy of the game, however, the Egg Battles symbolize the triumph of life and good over evil. The egg, as a symbol of rebirth, becomes the centerpiece of a celebration that unites young and old alike.
