Bridge of Dotsiko
Within the village of Dotsiko stands one of the most distinctive stone bridges in the region — unique in Macedonia for having been constructed inside the settlement itself, linking its two neighbourhoods above the Dotsikiotis River. To this day, the Bridge of Dotsiko remains an integral part of village life. Built between 1870 and 1880 by master craftsmen from Dotsiko and Kalloni, the bridge measures 24 metres in length and 2.40 metres in width. Its gently lowered arch gives it particular elegance. Along the sides of the deck, the characteristic vertical stones known locally as arkades form low parapets. On the southern facade, carved into the keystone of the arch, you will notice a relief figure — a talisman of the time, intended to ward off evil and protect those crossing.
