A new and dynamic partnership is launching between the Deputy Region of Tourism, Culture and Environment and the Deputy Region of Education and Sports of the Region of Western Macedonia.
Guided by the development strategy of the Governor of Western Macedonia, Mr. Georgios Amanatidis, two women Vice Governors share the vision of establishing Western Macedonia as a leading destination for education.
To achieve this goal, a comprehensive series of electronic books (e-books) has been designed, bringing together everything a teacher or student needs to explore the region through learning, nature, and hands-on experience. Through these e-books, educators will be able to wander around monuments, archaeological sites, geosites, and cultural landmarks, while following suggested educational routes.
What is the innovation behind this new initiative?
We studied, documented, and aligned the curriculum of Elementary, Middle, and High School with destinations in Western Macedonia that correspond to the educational objectives of each grade.
At the same time, each e-book includes recommendations for recreational destinations, ideas for three-day school trips, as well as culinary tips for sampling local flavors, shopping suggestions, and entertainment options in every Regional Unit. The initiative will initially be implemented in schools across Western Macedonia, as well as in neighboring regions and Eastern Macedonia and Thrace.
A synergy where promotion of tourism meets school education — and where learning becomes a lived experience.
