Potato Festival in Kapnochori

Music, celebration, creative activities, and, of course, plenty of high-quality potatoes. On the last weekend of August, the place to be is the Potato Festival in Kapnochori. Organized by the village’s Cultural Association, known for consistently preserving tradition, the festival takes place at the village’s central square. On the first day, children and grownups warm up with creative activities, such as face painting, games, competitions, and plenty of dance. The second day, however, is strictly dedicated to… potatoes: visitors enjoy free local potato dishes and can even take raw potatoes home, if they wish. The schedule includes exhibitions of photographs and performances from dance groups that highlight local culture and tradition. The celebration peaks with a grand traditional feast that lasts until morning, featuring live music (of traditional or folk kind), food, drinks, and endless dancing.
