Epirus Pie Festival

Every September, the courtyard of the old elementary school of Langa fills with aromas and flavors you should not miss. It is the Epirus Pie Festival, paying homage to the traditional making of Greece’s most renowned pie. Local women, the masterminds behind handmade phyllo pastry, prepare various kinds of pies for everyone to taste with utmost care and pure ingredients, while live demonstrations —such as on-site baking of pies in a covered clay pot (gastra) and laggites on a griddle— enrich the celebration. Enjoy traditional Epirus music, wine of great quality, and fine delicacies, in an atmosphere of warm hospitality and authentic, everyday culture.
