Holy Church of Saints Constantine and Helen of Kozani

One of the largest and most historically significant churches in Kozani, the construction of the Holy Church of Saints Constantine and Helen was completed in 1858. It was built on the foundations of an older church of unknown date and was renovated in the 20th century, acquiring its present form. Inside, you will admire the rich iconographic decoration by the distinguished iconographer Voutsinas. The golden polished dome, combined with the impressive stained-glass window on the northern side, creates a warm and luminous atmosphere. If you go up to the second floor, you will find a small yet interesting museum collection with icons of various representations, many of which date from the 19th century. Sacred relics are also kept there, including those of Saint Panteleimon and Saint Arsenios of Cappadocia. If you find yourself in Kozani on September 14, it is worth visiting the church’s feast day, where a replica of the Cross of Constantine the Great is presented, containing a fragment of the True Cross from the Holy Monastery of Vatopedi.
