Chapel of Panagia in Goules
Just outside Goules, following a quiet off-road route, you reach the picturesque chapel of Panagia. Built around 1600, it served as the village cemetery for centuries, as evidenced today by the small ossuary beside the church and the old graves gradually diving into the earth. The chapel was recently restored, preserving its history for future generations. Inside, the frescoes of 1606 are particularly impressive, especially on the sanctuary’s interior. In the apse, the Virgin Platytera ton Ouranon (Our Lady of the Sign) dominates, while the Divine Liturgy is depicted below, as a detail that gives this small church rare spiritual and artistic value.
