Holy Church of Prophet Elijah
Arriving at Palaiogratsano, you will encounter a historical religious monument considered a landmark of the entire region: the Holy Church of Prophet Elijah. Built in 1549 in the presence of the hieromonk Makarios, the church initially had a monastic character and was erected by monks of the Monastery of the Holy Trinity. Its decoration features unique frescoes created by the hieromonk Theodosios, the monk Dimitrios and the secular artist Nemas. Every year on July 20 the church fills with life, as hordes of practicing Orthodox Christians gather for the feast of Prophet Elijah and participate in the festival that follows.
