Bridge of Stavropotamos in Kipoureio
Shortly after the Bridge of Spanos stands the Bridge of Stavropotamos, also known as the Bridge of Kipoureio. Built around 1880, it spans the Stavropotamos River, a tributary of the Venetikos, at a site that once had intense commercial activity. Caravans heading towards Thessaloniki and Ioannina passed through here, and the bridge formed part of the old road network connecting Metsovo with Ioannina. It is a four-arched structure, with two main arches and two smaller ones, as well as a relieving opening for the discharge of water during floods. It measures approximately 48 meters in length and nearly 4 meters in width, in an imposing example of Grevena’s stone bridges.
