Bridge of Kastro
Between the villages of Kastro and Megaro lies one of the most tranquil and romantic bridges of Grevena. The single-arched Bridge of Kastro spans the Grevenitis River in a setting that resembles a postcard landscape. The bridge measures 21 metres in length, nearly 3 metres in width and 6.5 metres in height. Its semicircular arch, spanning 11.40 metres, once reflected perfectly in the calm waters below. The stone-paved deck and low parapet with remaining vertical stones recall the time when the bridge facilitated communication between the nearby villages and the town. Built before the mid-19th century, possibly funded by the Monastery of Agios Nikolaos at “Paliomonastiro”, it is officially designated as a historic preserved monument.
