“Antonis Fotiou” Folklore Museum of Argos Orestiko
A visit to Argos Orestiko is best concluded with a stop at the “Antonis Fotiou” Folklore Museum, a true cultural gem created through the collaboration of the municipality with local cultural and social organizations. Built on land donated by the Fotiou family, the museum is dedicated to the painter and scholar Antonis Fotiou (1919–2002), who inspired the initiative to collect and preserve the area’s local folkloric heritage. The museum’s areas exhibit traditional costumes, tools, household items, photographs, documents, and handicrafts that depict everyday life and narrate the area’s social history, keeping collective memory alive and thus strengthening the cultural identity of Argos Orestiko. It is well worth a visit.
