“Zachariadis” Cave near Pyli
Approximately one kilometer west of Pyli, an uphill, stepped path leads to a small clearing, well hidden within the forest. The cave—which during the Greek Civil War served as a hideout for the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Greece, Nikos Zachariadis, and as a venue for confidential meetings of the Democratic Army of Greece—still retains something of the atmosphere of a turbulent era.
