Hermitage of Saint Athanasios
The Hermitage of Saint Athanasios is the only one on Lake Megali Prespa accessible not only by boat, but also via a short footpath from the village of Psarades. This small, single-aisled chapel of the 15th century has suffered damage from rockslides, yet frescoes remain in the sanctuary, attesting to the long tradition of Byzantine painting in the area. Silent, minimal, and immersed in nature, it radiates the very calm and strength sought by Prespa’s hermits.
