Hermitage of the Small Ascension

Perched high on the cliff, the Hermitage of the Small Ascension is among the most striking monuments of Prespa’s monastic tradition. The small, single-aisled church, dating to the 15th century, preserves fresco decoration in the sanctuary area, marked by expressive restraint and spiritual intensity. Access may be challenging, but the sweeping lake views and the feeling of an isolated refuge will definitely reward the effort.
