Museum of the Macedonian Struggle “Kapetan Kottas”

In the village of Kottas—formerly known as Roulia before being named after the prominent Macedonian fighter—the restored two-floor house of the chieftain Kapetan Kottas (Konstantinos Christou) nowadays houses the Museum of the Macedonian Struggle, which has been operating since 1995. One of the most rich mansions in the area, it stands out both for its architecture and for its symbolisms: from a private residence, it was transformed into a place of memory and history. On the ground floor, traditional household utensils and tools are displayed, while the upper floor exhibits weapons from the Struggle, medals, photographs of chieftains, garments belonging to the Kottas family, and a library donated by the Women’s Association of Western Macedonia. A museum that serves as both a landmark and a living monument, keeping alive the memory and contribution of the region to history.
