Holy Monastery of the Dormition of the Theotokos, Kladorrachi

Just ten minutes from Florina, the Monastery of Kladorrachi was built in the late 18th century and played a decisive role in the Macedonian Struggle, hosting meetings of local leaders and guerrilla fighters. The wars that followed—the Balkan Wars, World War II, and the Civil War—led the monastery into decline, with many of its buildings collapsing. Today it is active once again, following its re-establishment in 1955 by the late Metropolitan Bishop of Florina, Vasileios, offering a cool, shaded spot to enjoy serenity, along with a precious sense of historical continuity.
