AMYNTAS WINERY (Amyntas Wines)
If you wish to experience the history of Amyntaio through its wine, all you have to do is to begin your journey at Amyntas Wines. In 1959, the first cooperative winery of Greece’s northernmost viticultural zone was founded here — an initiative that laid the foundations for the region’s modern winemaking identity. A defining moment came in 1971, when experimental trials to produce sparkling wine from Xinomavro began. The results were so impressive that the state officially recognized the PDO Amyntaio zone, and the first Greek PDO rosé wine was created. Today, approximately 60 growers continue wine production using modern methods and technology, keeping decades of tradition alive. During your visit, you will tour the historic section of the winery, the still and sparkling wine production facilities, and witness firsthand how technology meets inherited experience. You will pass through the aging area, where the finest vintages mature in French and American oak barrels, and finish your experience in an elegant tasting room with Dionysian references. With a glass in hand, you will understand why Amyntaio is considered so distinctive.
